Electrodeionisation (EDI) Systems
Electrodeionisation polishes reverse osmosis permeate to a conductivity as low as 0.055 µS/cm. A resin bed, ion-selective membranes and a direct current field work together; because the resin is continuously regenerated electrically, no acid or caustic regeneration is needed. That brings two concrete advantages: the need to store hazardous chemicals and neutralise waste disappears, and production becomes continuous. Where a conventional mixed-bed unit stops during regeneration, EDI keeps running. It is the preferred choice for pharmaceutical, cosmetics, electronics and laboratory applications, as well as boiler feed water. Configurations can be built to meet USP, EP and ASTM Type II pure water criteria.
Features
Why EDI?
Conductivity down to 0.055 µS/cm
No acid or caustic regeneration
Continuous production, no downtime
No hazardous chemical storage
Configurable to USP, EP and ASTM Type II
Modular design for capacity expansion
How It Works
Treatment Stages
Reverse Osmosis Pre-treatment
Conductivity is reduced to the level EDI will accept.
Resin Bed
Remaining ions are captured by the mixed-bed resin.
Ion-selective Membranes
Cations and anions are directed into separate channels.
Electric Field
Direct current drives the ions and continuously renews the resin.
Concentrate Discharge
Separated ions leave the system through the waste line.
